“Jony would’ve stayed at Boca, but he will fly out to Italy within hours,” Guillermo Calleri told Radio Rivadavia in Argentina.

“He will play for Bologna and in June could go to Inter. Jony is giving everything for Boca in this pre-season, he wanted to stay, but now we are close to completing the transfer.”

There remains the issue of third party ownership by Stellar Group, who have bought Calleri for $12m and registered him with Deportivo Maldonado.

The player will first go to Uruguay for a medical with Deportivo Maldonado, then join Bologna on loan.

Inter then have an option to buy the striker at the end of the season.

“The group is using Deportivo Maldonado, but it is not a way to get around the rules, we took all the precautions,” added his father.
