However, the Daily Express believes that the Spaniard has become disillusioned with life in Italy, after Napoli’s failure to qualify for the Champions League group stages and poor start in Serie A.

The newspaper believes that Arsenal could sign the 27-year-old for a fee of £16m, around €20m, despite Napoli’s rejected bids in the summer reportedly standing at €30m.

Rafa Benitez, who has recently been described as viewing Callejon as ‘indispensable’, is apparently now open to his exit, out of reputed a desire to not have unsettled players in his dressing room.

It is thought that the presence of close friend Santiago Cazorla could tempt Callejon to swap Naples for North London, though Arsenal would again face competition from Atletico for his signature.
