Jose Callejon expects “the first 15 minutes to be crucial” in Napoli’s Champions League play-off with Athletic Bilbao.
The first leg ended 1-1, so the Italians have to score on Wednesday night at the San Mames to have any hope of getting into the competition proper.
“We know Athletic’s qualities, but we have to remember that we are Napoli and therefore we do not fear our opponents,” said Callejon in his Press conference.
“In the first leg we didn’t make the most of our scoring opportunities, so must try to do better. We are playing in a tough arena against a side we respect, but we are Napoli and we are here to win.”
Rafa Benitez insisted it would “not be a tragedy” to go out of the Champions League in the play-off, but Callejon took a different tack.
“We’re just not thinking about that possibility. We know that we have to get out there and score, playing a perfect game to get through.
“Athletic Bilbao will take the initiative during the match, as they are on home turf and it is their general philosophy of football.
“Tomorrow night the first 15 minutes will be crucial, as they can dictate what path the game goes on to.”
