José Maria Callejon says he will have fun with Franck Ribery and that he will ‘always love Napoli’ in his official unveiling with Fiorentina.
"I am ready to give a lot, I come with the desire to do well, I put myself at the disposal of the club and of my teammates. I really like to work, always give my best,” he said.
“I had many offers, it’s true, but Fiorentina is the one I liked the most. I talked to both the coach and the Sports Director, and they convinced me. For me it was important to stay in Italy, and in Florence we will surely be with God.
“The feelings that I have are very good, I worked very well and this week. I’m a step behind my teammates because they have already played three games, but I want to get to the best on Sunday, then the coach will decide.
“Mixing young and experienced players can come out something very good. We have many strong young players, I know Italian football and I knew Fiorentina players them before. [Gaetano] Castrovilli can become a top player, but with young players we must be careful, we do not want to burn them.
“I am 33, I know Italian football and I am training very well, so I can start playing as soon as possible. I am an experienced player, I want to help young players to work well and this club to grow again. We can do very well this year and have fun.
"I am completely available for the coach, I will do what he tells me. I have never played in a 5-man midfield, but if I have to do the fifth I will do it, as well as the centre of support striker.
“I had a good time with everyone, from [Rafa] Benitez to [Gennaro] Gattuso. I never had any problems, everyone helped me to be the best footballer".
The Spaniard joined La Viola as a free agent in the deadline day to replace Federico Chiesa who moved to Juventus. He had spent seven years at Napoli before.
“I do not like to be the heir of anyone, I am another player. I am here to do my job and give my best.
“I lived many years in Naples and scored many goals, I arrive here with the same desire to help the team, give assists and if possible score goals.
"I lived seven wonderful years in Napoli. I love Naples and I will always love it. I had a very good time, but it was time to make this decision, my experience was over.
“Of course it was difficult, but during this time I thought about it a lot, and I decided that my cycle in Naples was over".
Fiorentina fans are looking forward to see the 33-year-old in action with Franck Ribery.
“I had a chat with Ribery, surely we will have fun, we will score many goals together.
“The only thing I miss is winning the Scudetto in Italy, with Napoli we are close. I don’t like to talk about goals, but I really want to do well".
