The Wolfsburg midfielder and Sassuolo forward received their maiden Azzurri call-ups for a get-together this week.

The 34 players will be evaluated and some could feature in upcoming games against Croatia and Portugal.

“I am happy to be here,” said Wolfsburg talent Caligiuri at a Press conference.

“I thank Antonio Conte and will do everything to come back here to the Italy squad in future. I think that I can learn many new things here.

“My whole family is happy that I am wearing the Azzurri jersey. It was one of my dreams and it has come true.”

Sansone plays in Italy for Sassuolo, but the 23-year-old was born in Munich and grew up in the Bayern youth academy.

“I proved in three years of Serie A that I deserve a place in the Nazionale, which was why I was convinced that sooner or later I would get here.

“I am happy to be part of the group and want to thank Conte for the call-up.”

Sansone is the third prong of the Sassuolo attack to play for Italy after Simone Zaza and Under-21 international Domenico Berardi.

“We had fun together and it’s good that an Italian team is focusing on young Italian players.”
