Hakan Calhanoglu told the Milan fans to keep quiet after Inter took the lead in the Derby della Madonnina, responding to abusive chants from the crowd.

The 28-year-old Turkish midfielder upset the Rossoneri faithful in July 2021 after ending a four-year stay at the club to join rivals Inter on a free transfer. The direct move across the Lombardy capital has not been forgiven and many Milan fans still hold acrimony toward Calhanoglu, who has grown into an important player for Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

A video circulating around social media shows an amusing moment in the Derby della Madonnina. As Calhanoglu was stepping up to take a corner, he received loud abuse from the nearby Milan fans, who chanted an insulting phrase and booed and whistled him.

His corner was met by a leaping Lautaro Martinez, who put Inter 1-0 up after 34 minutes. Immediately after the goal, an overjoyed Calhanoglu turned around and held his finger over his lips, shushing the Milan fans.
