Hakan Calhanoglu released a video showing some of his highlights and thanking Milan ahead of his transfer to rivals Inter. It was not greeted kindly by fans.

The clip includes his presentation back in 2017 after signing on from Bayer Leverkusen for €23m plus bonuses, some of his goals and celebrations in the Rossoneri jersey.

The message reads: “Thank you for everything Milan.”

He leaves the club as a free agent to join their rivals Inter, who are offering a slightly improved salary package of €5m per season compared to the €4m proposed to renew with the Rossoneri.

Inevitably, the reaction on Instagram was not kind, with one making clear what was to follow: “He really does just want to be insulted at this point.”

Meanwhile, Inter also posted a social media message featuring a bridge over the Naviglio, which separates one side of Milan from the other, just as Calhanoglu is about to cross over it.
