Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu had a one-word response for supporters suggesting that the Nerazzurri could win the Serie A title away against Milan in April: ‘Calma’.

It is still mathematically possible for Inter to confirm their status as Serie A champions when they play away against Milan in San Siro on April 21.

For that to happen, Simone Inzaghi’s side would need to open up a 16-point gap between themselves and the team in second in the Serie A standings by full-time of the Milan game.

The gap between Inter and Juventus in second currently stands at 12 points, with seven games left to play before full-time in Milan-Inter.

Despite the excitement from the Nerazzurri supporters, Calhanoglu, who pulled up in his car to speak to fans outside the club’s training ground on Saturday, was unwilling to get too carried away.

When supporters asked him about the possibility of winning the Scudetto against Milan, Calhanoglu replied: “Calma, calma,” while also gesturing with his hands in a video captured by Sky Sport Italia.

Inter are next in action against Genoa in Serie A on Monday evening, kicking off at 19.45 GMT.
