After last night’s reports, now rumours are growing that Inter are in talks with Hakan Calhanoglu, who leaves Milan as a free agent.
It was already reported by Calciomercato.com on Saturday evening, who suggested Calhanoglu’s agent had essentially offered the Turkey international to their rivals Inter.
Now Sky Sport Italia confirm negotiations are in progress between Calhanoglu and the Nerazzurri.
His contract with Milan is due to expire on June 30 and so far he has not found any particularly impressive offers that are superior to the €4m per season he was offered to extend.
It is frankly unlikely that Inter will raise the salary by much either, so it’s entirely possible Calhanoglu will remain at San Siro one way or another.
The situation can accelerate now that Turkey are out of Euro 2020 with three consecutive defeats.
If he was hoping that good performances in the tournament would raise his profile on the transfer market, then it back-fired.
The €6m per season wage demands seem unrealistic for the current climate.
