Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu insists returning to the Champions League must come before any challenge for the Serie A title.
Calhanoglu is one of the 10 players that Milan have signed this summer, and the midfielder believes the Rossoneri are equipped to vie for trophies next season, although qualifying for the Champions League should be their primary objective.
“For me, it’s all new here because there are some really good players in the team and also some young and new players,” he told Milan TV.

“There’s a very good mix here and the players are very good, so we have to try to win things this season.
“I think the challenge for us is to return to the Champions League. We want it because we have a good team and must give our all in every competition.
I hope we will play well and we will have good results, then everything will come as a result.
“Scudetto? I think the most important thing is to be calm at this stage.
“We need time, there are so many new players and it takes time to grow, both in games and inside the dressing room. After that, I’m sure everything will come together.
“The other most important thing for us is to be a group, a very good group, and teammates that are also friends.
“This is very important. You win together and lose together, you have good days and bad days together.
“Every player is important here and we have to be focused on our games, which are all important to us because we need to pick up points and get results.
“That's why I’m sure we’ll give everything for the team. Dortmund? They’re a great team and an important club with good players.
“I know them well because I have many friends playing there, such as my teammates in the Turkish national team.
“It’ll be a very beautiful friendly, we’re two good teams and we’ll have to fight and play well. We must have a good match.
“Europa League qualifiers? I don’t know the team we’re going to face in the Europa League, they’re new for me so we’ll have to face them in order to know what we’re dealing with.
“We need to pick up points, we have to win and nothing else. We’ll work hard and we’ll train a lot. There’s time for us to do everything right.”
