Italy Under-21 defender Luca Caldirola believes that the standard of football in Germany is better than in Serie A.

The youngster is currently plying his trade for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, and after 18 months with the club, admits that he has finally adapted to life away from the peninsula.

“I’m a quiet, shy person,” he told reporters. “In that sense I’m very German. I think I’ve always had a little bit of German in me.

“Right now, for me, the Bundesliga is the best League in the world. There are a lot of great teams and a lot of great players.

“Serie A is very different to what it’s like here. In Germany the football is a lot faster, whereas in Italy it is slower but more tactical.

“At the beginning it wasn’t easy to acclimatize, but after a year and a half I’m used to it now.”
