Mattia Caldara is happy at Spezia, but admits he will ‘regret Milan forever.’

The former Juventus and Atalanta defender is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2024, but has only made one appearance with the Rossoneri since his move to San Siro in 2018.

“I only played in a summer tournée at Juventus before joining Milan under Gennaro Gattuso. I had physical issues, a lot of pain and bad luck. I’ll regret Milan forever,” he told Gazzetta.

Caldara was one of Italy’s most promising defenders when he joined Milan and signed a lucrative deal with the Rossoneri.

“I bought a house for my parents and one for my family, plus something for the kids,” he said.

“Now I live in [La Spezia’s] city centre, it’s nice here. Fish is great, and I fell in love with pesto.”

His teammates Jakub Kiwior and Emil Holm have attracted interest from many big clubs.

“Kiwior is fast, he reads the game well,” said Caldara. “Holm is a wing-back with a strength that I haven’t seen many times in my career. He only needs to understand his potential.”
