Riccardo Calafiori revealed during the Bologna celebrations the strange ritual he performed to break his goal drought against Juventus, but admits he has no idea what the future holds.

There was a real celebratory atmosphere at the Stadio Dall’Ara, as the Rossoblu had already guaranteed Champions League qualification for the first time, not entering into the top European competition since the 1960s.

They surged into a 3-0 lead with Calafiori’s brace and a Santiago Castro header, but Juventus fought back for a 3-3 draw late on with Federico Chiesa, Arkadiusz Milik and Kenan Yildiz.

“It was a memorable season for everyone, you can see the atmosphere tonight. It was a pity not to win tonight, but we have no regrets this year,” Calafiori told DAZN.

“I said many times, I can only thank Thiago Motta, the staff and all my teammates. I had been looking for a goal all season, I had practically given up, but I got two tonight.

“I can only thank the fans, they gave me such a great welcome from the first day. Also the first day I arrived, Lorenzo De Silvestri gave me a big hug and said thank goodness, another Roman!”

Calafiori corker

De Silvestri joined in the celebration at the DAZN position and revealed a secret technique to get Calafiori’s first goal of the campaign.

“We had our coffee this morning and I said, it’s time you scored a goal, it’s the day. Within two minutes, he scored!”

They then revealed there was also a special ritual that allowed him to break his drought – they locked Calafiori in a cupboard for five minutes.

However, De Silvestri and Riccardo Orsolini also warned that he shouldn’t have revealed the secret, because then it might not work in future.

Speaking of the future, Calafiori was asked if he will continue to work with coach Thiago Motta, as both of them have been heavily linked with Juventus.

“I don’t know anything, I don’t even know if he’s staying, it’s a tough question…”

Orsolini also dived in, saying today Calafiori looked like a combination of Paolo Maldini, John Stones and Alexis Saelemaekers against Roma.
