Italy had their first training session following the 3-1 victory away to France, but Riccardo Calafiori did not participate after sustaining an injury in a bizarre incident.

The Azzurri emerged with all three points from the Nations League opener at Parc des Princes last night and flew straight to Budapest, where they will face Israel on Monday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

There were two injury concerns during the match, as Davide Frattesi went off at the 60th minute, whereas the former Bologna star had to be substituted after a very strange collision.

Ousmane Dembele was tackled by Alessandro Bastoni and went flying into the back of the Arsenal defender’s calf.

Calafiori freak injury

According to Sky Sport Italia, the central defender did not take part in today’s training session, so there are some concerns over whether he’ll be able to start against Israel.

Frattesi was in the session and is expected to play, as he assured reporters afterwards that it was just fatigue.

  1. No need to rush Calafiori. Give Buongiorno the start. Still waiting for Bellanova as well.
