Milan announced that right-back Davide Calabria has undergone surgery to correct a sports hernia and will be out for six weeks.

The Italy international was not in Roberto Mancini’s expanded Euro 2020 squad, so his season was already concluded.

“Davide Calabria has undergone sports hernia surgery in Milan today,” read a statement.

“The operation, performed by videolaparoscopy by Dr Giuseppe Sansonetti in the presence of Rossoneri doctor Lucio Genesio, was perfectly successful.

“Recovery time is estimated at 6 weeks.”

The 24-year-old Rossoneri youth product made 39 competitive appearances for the club this season, contributing two goals and two assists.
