Davide Calabria maintains Milan are in ‘one of the most difficult groups in the history of the Champions League’ after Newcastle United stunned PSG 4-1.

The Rossoneri are in third place with just two points from as many games, having been held to goalless draws by both Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.

Instead, the Magpies are on top with four points following this evening’s shock victory against Paris Saint-Germain.

“We played our game against a strong team that was playing on home turf, where they are unbeaten in this competition for two years,” Calabria told Amazon Prime Video Italia.

“This is one of the most difficult groups in the history of the Champions League.”

It is frustrating for Milan, who failed to score a single goal after two games where they had 39 attempts between Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.

“It is tough to talk in the heat of the moment, I would prefer to wait, cool down and then analyse what happened,” added the captain.

“There were several technical errors and we must be more clinical when we create those chances. At this level, you cannot waste that much.”

Calabria seemed to be struggling with fitness issues in the first half and was eventually substituted by Alessandro Florenzi.

While it is positive that Milan have kept five clean sheets in nine competitive matches so far this season, they only failed to find the net in the Champions League.
