Davide Calabria felt it ‘was a foul’ on the Porto goal, but doesn’t want to seek ‘excuses’ for another Milan Champions League loss.
The Rossoneri were beaten 1-0 in Portugal by a Luis Diaz strike, but he was allowed to shoot undisturbed from the edge of the area because Medhi Taremi barged Ismael Bennacer over.
They were also decimated by injuries, suspensions and COVID-19 cases, although Calabria won’t stand for that narrative.
“I don’t like to look for excuses, because otherwise it seems like we don’t deserve to wear the Milan jersey. Some might be a bit off form, not playing for a while, which is to be expected,” Calabria told Sport Mediaset.
“It went badly, there’s no point crying over split milk, we have to prepare for the next match, remember we are doing well in Serie A and try to keep building.”
Calabria was asked about the controversy over the build-up to the FC Porto goal.
“It looked like a foul from there, I haven’t seen the replays, but VAR isn’t going well for us recently.”
They already saw their last-gasp defeat to Atletico Madrid decided by a penalty for handball, which should’ve been revoked, as the Spanish player handled first.
