Davide Calabria underlined that Milan still believe they can beat out Inter and Napoli to the Scudetto, despite their slip against Torino on the weekend.
The Rossoneri suffered a painful 0-0 draw against the Granata on Sunday, dropping points at a vital stage in the season and allowing both the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei to stay right on their tails. Stefano Pioli’s side need to return to winning ways fast if they want to secure their first Scudetto in a decade.
Speaking to MilanTV, Calabria first discussed Milan’s growth under Pioli.
“It’s not just from this year that we have consistent results. We’ve been working on it a lot and for a long time. We know each other more and more, we have many different possibilities on the pitch and the results are coming.
“We are putting everything we have into it. We are aware of our potential. We believe we can make it to the end up there. There are teams that may be better prepared than us for such a long season, but we believe. Why shouldn’t we believe?”
He touched on how the Rossoneri can start scoring again.
“We need to shoot more. That’s what we’ve been missing in recent games. We should try to shoot a lot more because we have strikers, without necessarily limiting ourselves to turning the ball over and maybe letting the action fade away.”
The 25-year-old commented on how he’s been close to finding the back of the net on a few occasions.
“Even though I’m a full-back I like to get in front of the ball and have a shot. I hope the chance will come.”
He looked ahead to the upcoming match against Serie A strugglers Genoa and reflected upon their 3-0 win in the first meeting.
“We are confident. I wasn’t supposed to play at the Marassi, but at the last minute the coach told me I would play and it went well. Obviously there are ups and downs in such a long season, but you have to be confident.”
Calabria touched on how it feels to wear the captain’s armband at Milan.
“It’s something that gives you energy, charge and responsibility, it’s beautiful and fascinating. With all the players who have gone through Milan it gives you a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of energy.”
The Rossoneri youth product spoke about the growth of Pierre Kalulu this season.
“I’m not surprised. He’s an intelligent boy, we could see the potential even when he arrived. He’s young, we can’t expect him not to make mistakes. He’s strong and I’m happy he’s doing well because he deserves it.”
Finally, Calabria spoke about if the team were ready for their match against Genoa.
“We are confident. We are working hard to get to Friday in the best possible way.”

It’s simple Calabria, maldini hasn’t recruited the right players, maldini as great as he was as a footballer thinks that Krunic Bakayoko Ballo toure a 41 year old ibra, an ageing giroud, messias Diaz ect ect thinks these are the right signings then people wonder why we can’t win anything important anymore.
