Speaking on Radio 24, Cairo gave his backing to Ventura and underlined his desire to hold on to the Granata’s star players this summer.
“I believe that the Coach has a fundamental role within a squad and as part of a technical project, I believe he counts for about 50 per cent of everything,” said Cairo.
“I want to keep hold of a football maestro like Ventura. I saw in him the desire for revenge after he was sacked by Bari, he’s a great Coach and a maestro and I’ll always hold on to him.
“We will try to keep hold of our big players, even though it’s difficult because in football, as in life, motivation is everything.
“Nevertheless, I will certainly be looking to convince our best players to stay at least for next year.”
