Cairo gives Torino updates on Belotti and Bremer future

Torino President Urbano Cairo is hopeful Andrea Belotti will sign a new contract, while he confirms ‘many clubs are hovering around’ defender Gleison Bremer.

The Granata will visit Hellas Verona at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) for their penultimate Serie A game of the season today.

That is a head-to-head for ninth place, but effectively Toro have nothing more to play for this term and are already focused on the future.

Belotti does not appear to be part of that future, as his contract will expire on June 30 and there is no news on a potential extension.

“Belotti’s contract is running down, we’ll see what happens,” Cairo told Radio Deejay.

“(Director of sport Davide) Vagnati is talking to his agent. Ivan Juric got involved too, so we’ll see if we can find a solution.

“I have said that I no longer want to talk about it, so hopefully something good might happen. Andrea is a good lad, so I’d be stunned if after seven years at Toro, as the team’s captain, having scored 100 goals, he didn’t want to stay.

“After that, the fact remains we have not yet reached an agreement.”

Torino are set to be at the centre of the transfer gossip this summer largely because of centre-back Bremer, who has been linked with amongst others Inter, Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

“There are many clubs hovering around Bremer,” added President Cairo.

“We must ensure that, after some difficult seasons on an economic level, we sort things out, but clearly also maintaining the strength of the squad and possibly reinforcing further with young, quality additions.”

Is the reported €35m asking price for Bremer accurate?

“We don’t talk about these things now. We are not so prosaic.”
