Cairo: ‘Cheering for Ventura’

Torino President Urbano Cairo “will be cheering” for Giampiero Ventura tomorrow, but Sinisa Mihajlovic doesn’t have to imitate him.

Ventura left the Granta this summer to replace Antonio Conte as Italy CT, with the Serbian in turn taking over on the Toro bench.

“Sinisa shouldn’t imitate anyone, just be himself,” Cairo explained on Radio 24.

“I’m very happy with him, he makes us play differently to how we played under Ventura, but the growth of players like [Andrea] Belotti is thanks to Ventura.

“[Marco] Benassi? He’s another one of those players who Ventura did great work with, although now with Mihajlovic he has a new formation and new motivation.

“Our former Coach is starting to get into the atmosphere of the national team, he has to find results and I wish him good luck for a hard match [against Spain] in Turin tomorrow.

“Giampiero is handling the pressure well, I know him well and I see him as calm. Tomorrow I’ll be cheering for him.”
