After realising the Inter move would not happen, Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez is now ready to accept a loan with potential obligation to buy for Tottenham Hotspur for a total €25m.

The Uruguay international has been an outcast all summer, even refusing to attend pre-season friendlies and releasing a comment on social media insisting Cagliari had promised him a transfer to Inter.

However, he has now recognised the Nerazzurri have moved on to other targets and that deal is no longer viable.

With that in mind, Calciomercato.it, Sportitalia and more report this afternoon that talks are progressing well with Tottenham instead.

It would be a loan at €5-6m with option to buy for a further €20m, which can become an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met during the season.

The 25-year-old has 41 senior caps under his belt for Uruguay and joined Cagliari from Boca Juniors in the summer of 2019 for €17m.

He scored two goals and provided three assists in 32 Serie A appearances for the Sardinians last season.

  1. Why the hell are we bothering with Nandez? because he’s cheap is that it? We need a striker, a left footed centre back and a right back.
