Marroccu returns to the role he previously served at the club under outgoing President and owner Massimo Cellino and had originally left last summer.

After a six month spell at Portuguese side Beira Mar was confirmed as having ended by them earlier today, the director was present at Giulini’s presentation as Cagliari’s new owner.

“First, a thought to the previous management, a salute to those who have been at the helm of Cagliari for 23 years,” Marroccu stated to reporters.

“Cagliari will change a lot from Cellino to Giulini. I believe that it will be a very different management and mentality.”

Marroccu arrives alongside Zdenek Zeman as Coach.

“The idea of Zeman was the club’s and the actual negotiations only began a week ago.

“With the Coach we have not discussed names, he has explained his football and in the coming days we will evaluate the squad.

“Why Zeman? Because he is a revolutionary Coach, he is a signal that we want to give everyone.

“My experience in Portugal has been very useful. I believe I return enriched, knowledgeable and with contacts.”
