Two sides desperate for points meet at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday and these Cagliari vs. Roma predictions suggest it will be a close game. A lot may depend on how fatigued the visitors are after their midweek Europa League fixture.
1 – Roma to win – 5/6
2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 13/20
3 – Both teams not to score – 3/4
4 – Romelu Lukaku to score anytime – 7/4
5 – Roma to win 1-0 – 5/1
Cagliari continue to find life back in Serie A difficult, with the 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina last weekend keeping them bottom of the table and winless in seven games. Now they will have to deal with the visit of a wounded Roma.
The Rossoblu have had to face a few of the top teams in the division in the first few months of the campaign but are really struggling to get anything going so far. The only points have come from goalless draws and the side have only found the net on two occasions this term.
Claudio Ranieri is a popular figure in football – and at Cagliari – but his tenure may not last for too much longer if the team keep this form up.
Jose Mourinho knows all about criticism of the head coach, as his Roma team have made their worst start to a league season ever. The embarrassment of losing 4-1 to newly promoted Genoa was forgotten a little with the win over Frosinone at the weekend. But the display was far from convincing.
This week will be considered a success though, if the Giallorossi can get past Servette in the Europa League and come away from Sardinia with all three points.
Roma should have enough to beat Cagliari on Sunday, even with all their defensive problems and injuries. It may not be pretty, but Romelu Lukaku is always a good bet to get on the score sheet – and that could be all that is needed for Roma to win this one.

Cagliari (3-5-2): Radunović; Obert, Dossena, Wieteska; Zappa, Deiola, Nández, Makoumbou, Augelio; Petagna, Shomurodov
Roma (3-5-2): Patricio; Cristante, Ndicka, Mancini; Çelik, Aouar, Pellegrini, Paredes, Spinazzola; Dybala, Lukaku
Claudio Ranieri still has a lot of injuries to deal with at Cagliari – and that is hampering his ability to put out a competitive side in the early weeks of the season. There should not be too many changes for the visit of Roma, but that might be because he has little choice in the matter.
Mourinho is also facing defensive injury problems and may well have to start Bryan Cristante at the back again. He will be hoping that his players come through the European game without too much difficulty and may bring Paulo Dybala back into the fold after resting him for the Servette game.
