This weekend’s Serie A action includes a battle down at the bottom and these Cagliari vs. Genoa predictions look at two sides looking to improve their league position. Cagliari are currently inside the drop zone with Genoa four points above it.

Cagliari vs. Genoa odds

1 – A draw – 23/10

2 – Cagliari under 2.5 total goals – 1/10

3 – Total goals scored under 2.5 – 8/11

4 – Both teams to score – 10/11

5 – A 1-1 draw – 21/4

Genoa’s trip to Cagliari presents an interesting prospect this weekend, with both sides picking up a rare win in their last league outing.

Two added time goals secured a 4-3 home win for Cagliari against Frosinone, sealing a dramatic first league win of the season, with Genoa snatching a 1-0 win at home to Salernitana.

That makes it difficult to pick a winner in this tie, with a draw more likely. Cagliari have lost four of their previous six, prior to beating Frosinone, and Genoa have only won one of their last four matches in Serie A.

Cagliari netted four against Frosinone but that was a first for the season, as they have failed to score over 2.5 goals in a league game before that incredible finish. Genoa have scored three goals in their last four league matches, at an average of just under one goal scored per league match, and that pattern should continue in this game.

The overall goals scored in Serie A by the two sides also show both sides’ struggles in front of goal, with Genoa scoring 11 in 10 and Cagliari netting nine in 10.

Neither side is in great form, despite the confidence boost with wins picked up last weekend. But a goal each and a draw will be a slight positive, particularly for struggling Cagliari. A point is unlikely to be enough to lift them out of the bottom three though, unless Udinese lose heavily away at Milan.
