Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini has outlined ambitious plans for his side, including breaking the top five in Serie A by 2020.

“Our hope this year is to obviously reach safety as quickly as possible, hopefully with several weeks to go,” Giulini told Ansa.

“With optimism and anticipation going forward, we’re even aiming to crack the top 10 places in Serie A. For the first year, this is a huge objective.

“Then, by our centenary [2020], and I don’t think we’d have any issues playing at a higher level than we’ve already achieved.

“There is even the possibility of moving into the top 5 of the League. We’re not in 1970 anymore, where this would be an incredible, incredible surprise.

“We’re working towards a gradual growth. Today, our ambition remains to stay in an important place, and even in five years, there is still plenty of work to do.”

Giulini then commented on the developments of a new stadium for the Rossoblu.

“The stadium of the future is not a private matter. The Communal at Cagliari needs to recognise where they are today exactly.

“And as for restructuring the Stadio Sant’Ella? No, it will be a new stadium.”
