Cagliari have reportedly agreed terms with Sassuolo to sign striker Gianluca Scamacca on loan with option to buy.

According to Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà, the deal has been done and will be finalised tomorrow.

It will be a paid loan for circa €2m with an option to buy for a further €25m, although Sassuolo should also retain a counter-option to bring him back.

Scamacca is an Italy Under-21 international forward who has just earned his first call-up for Roberto Mancini’s senior Azzurri squad.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Genoa, finding the net 12 times with two assists in 29 competitive appearances.

He had also been linked with Inter, Juventus, Milan, Sampdoria, Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart this summer.

However, Sassuolo wanted to send him to a club where he’d be guaranteed regular playing time in order to help his development.

Cagliari therefore got the nod and should get Scamacca in for a medical tomorrow.
