Cagliari are reportedly open to selling Nahitan Nández to Inter on an initial €5m loan deal and have extended the player’s holidays by three days.

Nandez was expected to return to training today, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club have informed the player he can return to Sardinia on Friday.

However, with talks between Inter and Cagliari ongoing, it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old will land in Sardinia or up North, where he would sign a three-year, €3m-a-year deal with the Serie A champions.

Inter meet Cagliari for Nandez and Nainggolan

Representatives of the two clubs met in Milan yesterday and the pink paper reports that Cagliari are open to selling the Uruguay international on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

However, Cagliari want €5m for the player’s temporary move, which is still too much for Inter, so talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

Inter have already sent Dalbert to Sardinia on loan with an option to buy for €9m and Radja Nainggolan could be the next one to swap the Nerazzurri with the Sardinians, returning to the island for the fourth time in his career.

Inter can pay up to 1.2m of his €4.5m-a-year salary, but an agreement between the player and both clubs has not been finalised yet.

Cagliari could finance Nainggolan’s return by selling Diego Godin and Giovanni Simeone, who have been put on the market.
