Cagliari Calcio have announced that Adam Ounas has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Rossoblu have confirmed the fifth case in recent weeks, after Diego Godin, Giovanni Simeone, Nahitan Nandez and Gaston Pereiro has previously tested positive for coronavirus.

“Cagliari Calcio announce that the latest series of swabs carried out revealed a positive COVID-19 test for Adam Ounas,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The player was promptly isolated as established by the regulations in force.”

Eusebio Di Francesco’s men prepare for a match against Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi on Sunday.

Leonardo Pavoletti was back in the starting line-up against Spezia last time and scored the 2-1 goal, before Mbala N’Zola grabbed the equaliser in stoppages for the newly promoted visitors.

Cagliari are 12th in Serie A after the 2-2 draw with Spezia, four points behind Hellas Verona in the table.
