Cagliari are reportedly on the verge of signing Radja Nainggolan on a permanent deal from Inter.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Rossoblu are working to reinforce the squad ahead of 2021-22, but President Tommaso Giulini has prioritised confirming the Belgian midfielder’s stay in Sardinia.

Ninja returned to Cagliari for his third stint in January, as he spent 2019-20 on loan with the Casteddu and returned to the club for the second time after leaving Sardegna Arena in January 2014.

The former Roma player has struggled to convince at San Siro and seems set to leave Inter on a permanent transfer to Sardinia this summer.

The report claims Cagliari have already reached an agreement with the 33-year-old midfielder and are on the verge of closing the deal with the Beneamata.

Cagliari coach Leonardo Semplici managed to secure safety in Serie A for the Rossoblu, as he took over after Eusebio Di Francesco when the Casteddu sat 18th with 15 points in 23 games.

Semplici’s men finished 16th in Serie A with 37 points, four above Benevento at 18th, and the club confirmed the former SPAL coach would continue in charge.

He has already started working towards the 2021-22 season and reportedly hopes to renew with Luca Ceppitelli, whose contract expires in June.

The coach also seems eager to reunite with SPAL defender Kevin Bonifazi, who spent the season on loan at Udinese in Serie A.

The 25-year-old returns to the Biancazzurri this summer and Sky Sport Italia claims Cagliari are ready to swoop.
