Cagliari are reportedly in talks with Nacional Montevideo over a possible move for midfielder Emiliano Martinez.

The Rossoblu are looking to reinforce the midfield and are, according to Sky Sport Italia, negotiating with Nacional Montevideo, hoping to bring Emiliano Martinez to Italy.

The 22-year-old doesn’t have a European passport, but the report insists Cagliari still have the possibility to register non-EU players.

Martinez has played 46 times with the senior side and the defensive midfielder has been a revelation in the Primera Division in Uruguay.

The broadcaster claims Cagliari are not giving up on signing Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega, who spent last term on loan at Spezia, as Nahitan Nandez’s future seems uncertain.

After the negotiations with Inter fell through, Nandez has been linked with a move to Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.

Nandez had been pushing for a move to Inter and sent a message to Cagliari fans to apologise for his absence in the pre-season, but insisted the Rossoblu didn’t keep their word that he could join the Italian champions.

Nandez: ‘Cagliari gave me their word’
