With Arturo Vidal seemingly flying in for Inter this evening, it means Godin should be released for Cagliari.
“We’ll see. It’s a long, difficult negotiation process for an important player. Hopefully, between Monday and Tuesday we can bridge the final gap and bring in a real experienced leader to our squad,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.
“The President had the idea of signing Godin, as he has been following the player for some time, and we all agreed it was an excellent idea.”
Carta was also asked about Cagliari interest in 24-year-old Utrecht FC player Gyrano Kerk.
“Kerk is one of the players we’ve been following for a while, needing wide attacking players who can suit the coach and his systems. We are talking and we’ll see over the next few days if it goes further than that.
“Fabrizio Caligara is starting today because he deserved it. Our philosophy is also to help young players through the academy and we hope he will be just one of many making that journey.”
