Cagliari’s game with Fiorentina could be in doubt this weekend, as Alessio Cragno and Alessandro Deiola tested positive for COVID-19, meaning they have 11 cases between senior and youth squads.

A statement was released this afternoon confirming goalkeeper Cragno and defender Deiola had tested positive in the latest round of swabs.

Christian Oliva, however, has now recovered and is available again for coach Walter Mazzarri.

There are now 11 positive cases at Cagliari between the senior and youth squads.

The new COVID protocol comes into action today, so if 35 per cent of a 25-man squad tests positive, then the local health authority can intervene to order a mass quarantine.

The Sardinians are perilously close to that figure now, as they have six senior players out of action: Simone Aresti, Raoul Bellanova, Alessio Cragno, Alessandro Deiola, Matteo Lovato and Alberto Grassi.

The cut-off point to potentially suspend Serie A matches is nine players testing positive at one time.

Therefore, this afternoon’s Coppa Italia game with Sassuolo will go ahead.
