Cagliari have announced that Uruguay international midfielder Nahitan Nandez has been diagnosed with collateral knee ligament damage.
Nandez has been out of action since January 20 with knee problems and had been due to make his comeback soon.
However, he suffered a setback in training and a statement confirmed tests showed a lesion to the collateral medial ligament in his right knee.
There is no word on how long he will be out for, but the season could well already be over for Nandez.
The 26-year-old made only 18 competitive appearances this term between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, contributing two assists.
