Cagliari striker Leonardo Pavoletti has been diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal in his foot after the 1-1 draw with Napoli.

The forward had come off the bench as a substitute in the second half, lasted barely 16 minutes and limped off again.

It proved to be quite a serious injury, as a note from the Sardinian club this afternoon confirmed Pavoletti has sustained a fracture of the fourth metatarsal in his right foot.

The good news for Pavoletti is that this will not require surgery and can be resolved using conservative treatment.

The 35-year-old centre-forward was pivotal in earning promotion from Serie B last season and so far this term has contributed four goals and an assist in 19 Serie A matches.
