Cagliari lost Rafael in the warm-up, then another three players limped off all before half-time, leaving Diego Lopez cursing his luck.
Quagliarella bagged a brace in the opening 19 minutes, as he was at full stretch to get his studs to a Gaston Ramirez chipped ball over the top, then steered a Ramirez back-heel flick into the far bottom corner.
Luck turned after the break, as Emiliano Viviano’s clearance ricocheted off the back of Diego Farias and into the net.
That sparked the comeback, which was completed four minutes later by a Leonardo Pavoletti header.
