Cagliari will meet with Roma today to finalise an agreement for striker Eldor Shomurodov, who is not part of Jose Mourinho’s project.

The 28-year-old Uzbeki forward joined the Giallorossi from Genoa in the summer of 2021 for around €18m. He’s failed to make a strong impact on the Italian capital and spent the second half of last season on loan with Spezia.

Shomurodov was not called up by Mourinho for Roma’s pre-season training retreat to Portugal, making it clear that he was not expected to be part of the squad for next season.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Cagliari are working to sign Shomurodov from Roma on a loan deal with a buy option attached. The two clubs will meet today to define the figures of the transfer.

The 28-year-old is ready for a new challenge in Serie A and will be an important reinforcement for Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari.

During his six months with Spezia, Shomurodov scored one goal and provided two assists in 16 appearances.
