Cagliari director Stefano Capozucca reveals Nahitan Nandez snubbed a move to Juventus, while Roma never asked for the player and Napoli ‘cannot sign him.’

The Uruguay international seemed on the verge of joining the Old Lady during the January transfer window, but his move to the Allianz Stadium collapsed.

Capozucca has now revealed that it was the player’s choice to snub a move to Juventus.

“He is one of our best players,” he told L’Unione Sarda.

“He is an ambitious footballer and he wants to play in European competitions, even if I want to specify that he’s never said that openly.

“It’s not Cagliari’s fault if he didn’t join Juventus. Nandez was not convinced about joining Juventus on loan with an option to buy. He said: ‘If they really want me, I’ll go.” he didn’t want to feel under scrutiny during his time there.

“He would only accept a loan with an obligation to buy. He is convinced that he can play in a top club in Europe and now he is happy to stay here. Roma have never asked for the player, while Napoli are not able to sign him.”

  1. @Cypher: Nandez prefers not to complicate his life with that atrocious midfield the Serie B champions currently have…

@Mario: they wanted to ship Arthur out and take Nandez, but it seems nobody is that stupid – not even Arsenal LOL.
