Cagliari at Sant’Elia permanently

As expected, all of Cagliari’s remaining home games this season have been moved back to the Stadio Sant’Elia.

As expected, all of Cagliari’s remaining home games this season have been moved back to the Stadio Sant’Elia.

The club had been using the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste as its base after the Is Arenas failed numerous security checks and was eventually torn down.

This week the local council finally started reconstruction work on the Sant’Elia in Cagliari and it was passed fit to host 4,798 spectators.

That means Saturday’s match against Catania will be played at the Sant’Elia, the first here since April 1 2012.

The Lega Serie A released a statement this evening confirming that for the rest of the season the Stadio Sant’Elia would become the official home venue for Cagliari.
