Roberto Donadoni has expressed his desire to keep Alessandro Matri at Cagliari amid interest from Milan.

The 26-year-old striker, who scored his eighth goal of the campaign against Lecce on Sunday, is being hotly tipped with a move back to San Siro where he started his career.

Speaking to Rai Sport, Donadoni said: "We must hold him tight. He is a striker with great prospects just like Acquafresca, Nene and Ragatzu.

"Not being in the Italy squad was a little unjust for him.

Matri has also been frequently linked with Fiorentina, Napoli and Juventus who are all looking to reinforce up front.
