Juventus defender Martin Caceres says the trip to Genoa ‘will be more difficult’ than the Manchester City game.

The Bianconeri beat the English side 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday, and are looking to record their first Serie A victory of the season at Marassi on Sunday.

“We’re aware that we’re a good team, with quality players,” Caceres told JTV, the club’s official television channel.

“But we can’t forget that a team like Manchester [City] play football, they leave space, against Genoa it will be very different.

“They’ll be more compact on the pitch, and I think it’ll be more difficult than in Manchester. The English play a more open style, leave more space, but we know Genoa won’t do that.

“It’ll be a different game.

“We’ll try to do our best against Genoa, because we’ve yet to win in the Italian League. In terms of the dressing room we’ve changed too, as there are 10 new players.

“I don’t want that to be an excuse this year though, we’ll try to do our best this season and we’ll try to win something.

“I’m not going to look for an excuse, it’s been four years I’ve been here, I know the dressing room and we believe we can do better.”

The Uruguayan international did admit that the City game was important for the squad’s morale.

“It’s clear that there’s a lot of satisfaction. It was a crucial game, very important, because it was the first Champions League game.

“We’re happy, but now we know we’re facing a very difficult game, because we haven’t won in the League. Our heads are already on Genoa.”
