Italy and Juventus legend Antonio Cabrini acknowledges it’s not easy to handle the Cristiano Ronaldo situation, but suggests replacing him with Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann.

Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus and his agent is set to meet the Serie A giants this morning to discuss his client’s exit.

Manchester City appear to be the only club interested in securing his services and have offered CR7 a two-year, €15m-a-year deal.

Ronaldo started Juventus’ Serie A opener on the bench, playing just 30 minutes. On Wednesday, he left the training session in advance due to problems with his arm.

Juventus legend Antonio Cabrini believes it’s not easy to handle this situation but insists the player must talk to the club to solve his future.

“If he wants to leave, it’s counterproductive to keep hold of him,” the 1982 Italy World Cup winner told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Above all, he should be clear with the club, saying: ‘I want to go away’ or ‘let’s find a compromise.’

“It’s difficult to make a decision. On the one hand, I would think twice before selling a player who scored 100 goals. On the other hand, looking at his age and the economic aspect, I think he can leave. It’s not easy.”

Juventus have reportedly prepared a three-man shortlist to replace the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star. Cabrini believes the Old Lady should go for Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann if CR7 leaves.

“I wouldn’t mind Icardi, he had a difficult season, but he has the goals in his blood. Maybe he hasn’t settled in Paris or the French league.

“However, my favourite is Griezmann, he earns a lot, but not as much as Ronaldo. He has incredible qualities and he could do well at Juventus. His talent would make the difference in Italy.”

  1. I’m open to the idea of Griezman, who said he’d be willing to leave Barcelona, though his preference is for Aletico Madrid. Can’t see Juvenuts making a good enough pitch to lure him from La Liga. As for Ronaldo, it’s a lot of goals that Juvenutus lose in him, as well as Serie A losing yet another marque player, but his presence on the team didn’t pan out…and personally I want him gone.
