Antonio Cabrini believes tomorrow’s Juventus-Roma will be “a great duel, just like in the 1980s.”

“I expect a very tight game between two teams who did the best work on the transfer market and are certainly the best-equipped to compete at the top level,” Italy legend Cabrini told GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

“It’s too early to say whether it will be decisive for the title race or pick the favourites. Juventus are certainly more accustomed to victory, having triumphed for three years in a row, but Roma proved they are on the same level. It will be a wonderful battle.”

These clubs fought for the Scudetto last season, but above all duelled for trophies in the 1980s.

“It was a great duel in the 1980s between two teams and two clubs who were at the very top. These sides had great champions like Platini on the one hand and Falcao on the other, which provided a duel within the duel. That rivalry was immersed in a fantastic atmosphere.

“You cannot compare the current team with my Juventus, as it was a different type of football back then,” continued Cabrini.

“What I can say is that there doesn’t seem to be much different between Allegri’s Juve and that of Conte. As we go forward, I think we will slowly begin to see more of Allegri’s influence.”
