Arthur Cabral said he has been ‘preparing all my life for this moment’ he would wear the Fiorentina jersey, as he replaces Dusan Vlahovic in the Number 9.

The striker was signed from FC Basel in January at a cost of circa €15m plus bonuses, filling the shoes of current Serie A Capocannoniere Vlahovic.

“I’ve been preparing all my life for this moment,” declared the Brazilian at his presentation press conference.

“I’m ready to wear such an historic, important and symbolic shirt. I’m strong physically, play as a centre-forward and like to move around in the penalty area. I have similar characteristics to Adriano and hope to repeat what he did in Italy.

“I know that adapting to Italian football is a big challenge, but I am trying to learn more of what the coach wants from me in every training session.”

These are big shoes to fill, as Vlahovic scored 20 goals in 24 games for Fiorentina this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

“I respect what Vlahovic did here, but my objective is to write my name in the history books and follow in the footsteps of other great Brazilians before me.

“When I discovered Fiorentina wanted me, I was so happy, as this is an opportunity to work in a great project, in a top league and help me reach the Brazil squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

“I knew that Fiorentina had been tracking me for some time, so I kept a close eye on the team and how they played.”
