Nicolas Burdisso’s recovery from a serious knee injury has picked up in recent weeks, as he receives glowing praise from his medical specialist.
The Roma defender ruptured the ligaments in his left knee whilst on international duty for Argentina in a mid-November match against Colombia.
Surgery soon after the incident ruled the former Inter stopper out for a minimum of six months, whilst reports in early February hinted at a set-back to his recovery.
Whilst the club later denied that Burdisso required further surgery, he is not expected to play at all this season. Despite this, visiting specialist Professor Giuliano Cerulli gave an optimistic outlook for the defender’s eventual full recovery.
“Burdisso’s recovery is going beyond the most optimistic of expectations. He is a thorough professional, aided by the medical and technical staff that are extraordinarily prepared.”
The 30-year-old centre-back is expected to now return to training by the end of May.
