Former defender Nicolas Burdisso believes Italy’s World Cup win in 2006 was a problem for Serie A.
Burdisso spent almost his entire career in Italy, playing with Inter, Roma, Genoa and Torino.
On Sunday, the Nerazzurri face the Granata at the Stadio Grande Torino.
“Torino are desperate for points. There’s nothing worst than facing an Inter side for whom every match is an appointment with destiny,” the Argentinean told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I hope Torino gain survival and Inter win the title,” he added.
Burdisso has got his sporting director badges in Coverciano and is now waiting to begin a new chapter of his career.
“I refused two offers. Now there are a couple of opportunities, also in Italy,” he revealed.
“In Italy, there are many prestigious coaches, but I want to focus on new coaches who deserve a chance, players who are improving and directors who must develop,” he said.
“It’s not enough to have a past as a footballer. One must have different competencies, marketing, communication, image.
“Italian football must be open to innovation. It’s happening, but they are behind and that’s because of the 2006 World Cup.
“I’ve always said that also when I was a footballer, and I saw what was going on.
“It would be great to win the World Cup every four years, but that time something different happened.
“Spain, England and other countries were preparing for change. Italy thought old models were still working and didn’t put any change in place after that victory.
“There are so many clubs that play attractive football right now, also in Serie B. Empoli, Venezia and Pordenone are enjoyable to watch.”
