“We haven’t defined a date, as it is not in our hands if we return or when. We have several schedule options. May 1 is no longer a realistic date. If the signal is given over the next week, then it can be May 9.
“However, it would be presumptuous of us to set a date. It all depends on what the politicians decide. If it’s May 9, then we would be ready then. If it’s later, we’d be ready on that date.”
As with Serie A, the Bundesliga players will be given rigorous tests for COVID-19 as well as any potential collateral effects.
Should the testing capacity in the country overall start to run into problems, then the sport would stop to ensure resources are used where they are most needed.
There is also a solidarity fund set up with €7.5m from the clubs in the Champions League, which will be distributed among 19 clubs in the third division and Women’s top division.
