Italy legend Gigi Buffon took to social media to wish good luck to Tom Brady: ‘Age doesn’t matter for an athlete, what you show on the pitch matters.’
Brady, 44, said he would return to Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd NFL season six weeks after he retired. Buffon has recently extended his contract with Parma and will continue playing at least until 46.
“Tom Brady is almost 45 and with this choice, he reiterated that age doesn’t matter for an athlete,” the ex Juventus goalkeeper wrote on Instagram.
“What you show on the pitch matters. I have always admired him for his energy and enthusiasm and I wish him a big “good luck” for the new chapter of his incredible sporting career.”
Buffon returned to Parma last summer signing a two-year deal at the Stadio Tardini. He has now extended for a further season, but his agent has repeatedly claimed that Buffon could play until 50.
