The 43-year-old may well continue his extraordinary career, but this was probably his final game in the Juventus jersey.

It allowed him to beat Atalanta 2-1, winning his sixth edition of the Coppa Italia, equalling the record set by Roberto Mancini.

Buffon won in 1998-99 for Parma, then five at Juve in 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2020-21.

Curiously, his teammate at Parma when beating Fiorentina in the May 1999 Final was Enrico Chiesa.

At the time, Enrico had a baby son called Federico, who was not even two years old.

This evening, Federico Chiesa scored the decisive goal to beat Atalanta 2-1 and give Buffon his record-equalling sixth Coppa Italia.
