Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon said ‘it was an honour to share this last season’ at the club with Andrea Pirlo.

The former midfielder started his career as a head coach last summer but only lasted for one season, as Juventus have officially sacked the 42-year-old.

Buffon, another club legend, leaves the Bianconeri, who announced Massimiliano Allegri returns to the Allianz Stadium ahead of 2021-22.

The veteran goalkeeper has not decided to retire but is looking for a new club, most likely abroad.

Buffon sent a message to his coach and teammate on social media, saying it was ‘an honour’ to finish his Juventus career with Pirlo at the helm.

“Maestro. Teammate. Coach. But above all, friend. It was an honour to share this last season at Juventus together,” Buffon wrote on Twitter.
